Hynek Hermansky (F'01, SM'92. M'83, SM'78) received the Dr. Eng. Degree from the University of Tokyo, and Dipl. Ing. Degree from Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. He is the Julian S. Smith Professor of Electrical Engineering and the Director of the Center for Language and Speech Processing at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He is also a Research Professor at the Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. He is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) IEEE, and a Fellow of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA), was twice an elected Member of the Board of ISCA, a Distinguished Lecturer for ISCA and for IEEE, and is the recipient of the 2013 ISCA Medal for Scientific Achievement. He has been working in speech processing for over 30 years, mainly in acoustic processing for speech recognition.
Renato De Mori (Mc Gill University)
Renato De Mori is emeritus professor at Mc Gill University (Canada) and at the University of Avignon (France). He has been full professor in Italy (University of Turin), Canada and France. He is a Life Fellow of the Computer Society and has been distinguished lecturer of the Signal Processing Society of the IEEE. He has been scientific leader of projects in Canada (The Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Systems, a Canadian Network of Centers of Excellence) and in Europe (Language Understanding for telephone Applications ( LUNA) and is actually working on the m2cr CHIST ERA European project in cooperation with the MILA laboratory in Montreal. He is member of the Computational Linguistic group at Mc Gill University and the speech communication group of the Avignon Computer Science Laboratory. His research interest has been in spoken language processing, computer architecture, and software engineering. He is actually working on complex number deep neural networks with application to automatic speech recognition and the extraction of semantic information from spoken documents.

Jason Eisner (Johns Hopkins University)
Jason Eisner is Professor of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University, as well as Director of Research at Microsoft Semantic Machines. He is a Fellow of the Association for Computational Linguistics. At Johns Hopkins, he is also affiliated with the Center for Language and Speech Processing, the Machine Learning Group, the Cognitive Science Department, and the national Center of Excellence in Human Language Technology. His goal is to develop the probabilistic modeling, inference, and learning techniques needed for a unified model of all kinds of linguistic structure. His 135+ papers have presented various algorithms for parsing, machine translation, and weighted finite-state machines; formalizations, algorithms, theorems, and empirical results in computational phonology; and unsupervised or semi-supervised learning methods for syntax, morphology, and word-sense disambiguation. He is also the lead designer of Dyna, a new declarative programming language that provides an infrastructure for AI research. He has received two school-wide awards for excellence in teaching, as well as recent Best Paper Awards at ACL 2017 and EMNLP 2019.
