Eörs Szathmáry

Eörs Szathmáry is professor at the Biological Institiute of Eötvös University, Budapest, and a core team member of the Parmenides Foundation in Pullach/Munich. His main field is theoretical evolutionary biology. Together with the late John Maynard Smith he has analyzed in two widely read books the topic of the major transitions in evolution, from the origin of cells to the emergence of human language. Recently he is interested in the question whether there is proper evolutionary dynamics in the brain, and what role it could have in cognitive performance.
