Jose Antonio Cantoral-Ceballos

Jose Antonio Cantoral-Ceballos, Ph.D., M.Sc., MIEEE, is a Level 1 member of Mexico's National Research System. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.Sc. in Electronic and Communications Engineering from Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, in 2005. Dr. Cantoral-Ceballos earned his M.Sc. with Distinction and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Manchester, U.K., in 2009 and 2013, respectively. His graduate research concentrated on the development of innovative algorithms for tomographic imaging within embedded systems. Between 2013 and 2014, Dr. Cantoral-Ceballos served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester. During this period, he worked on the design and development of tomography data acquisition systems. His work further extended to the refinement of imaging algorithms optimized for limited-view scenarios. From 2015 to 2020, he was affiliated with the Advanced Technology Center (CIATEQ A.C.), Mexico. Here, his work pivoted towards the application of Deep Learning methodologies to address complex challenges in Digital Signal Processing and Energy domains. Currently, he holds the position of Research Professor at Tecnologico de Monterrey's Department of Computer Science, Dr. Cantoral-Ceballos. His ongoing work predominantly focuses on leveraging Deep Learning algorithms to analyze neurological signals, derived from both imaging technologies and EEGs. Additionally, his research extends to the critical area of cybersecurity. Dr. Cantoral-Ceballos' scholarly contributions have been recognized, obtaining the National Instruments Prize for his M.Sc. dissertation in 2009. Further, he received the Best Technical Presentation Award at the Seventh World Congress of Industrial Process Tomography (WCIPT) held in Krakow, 2013.
