QuLM-ST: Real-Time Speech Translation on Smart Glasses

Abstract:
We present QuLM-ST, a compact 71M-parameter language model for real-time, bidirectional (e.g., English-Chinese, etc.) translation on edge devices. Its hybrid architecture combines efficient attention and streaming automatic speech recognition (ASR) to deliver high-quality translation with low latency and resource requirements. The live demonstration integrates on-device speech recognition and QuLM-ST on smart glasses powered by Qualcomm Technologies, enabling users to hear speech in one language and receive an immediate translation through a fully edge-based pipeline.
